Schedule
August 18: fly to Bethel on Alaska Air flight AS43 or AS201. Stay at Papa Bear Lodge.
August 19 to 29: - river float, fish, camping days.
August 29: river take-off via boat or plane and return to Bethel.
August 29: fly home on Alaska Air flight AS46
You must arrive in Bethel on August 18th (the day before our float trip). When we meet up in Anchorage on August 18th there may time to shop for final gear and perhaps have lunch. Supplies in Bethel are very limited (and expensive).
Logistics
Winston Provides
Outfitter Coordination: communications, gear specifications, accounting, and pre-shipping of everything the group needs for the trip. This includes bulky gear (i.e. rafts, coolers) and non-shippable items like fuel.
Group Camp Gear: kitchen, group shelter, first aid, safety, communications etc.
All meals: breakfast, coffee, lunches, and an assortment of delicious dinners. Mexi night, freshly caught fish, shrimp pesto pasta, tenderloin steaks, Asian curry night, chile, soup, burgers. Daily veggie-slaw varieties that can be added to most meals.
Experience. River, fishing, preparations, and camp knowledge in a highly variable environment. On a wild Southwest Alaskan float trip we hope for the best, and are ready for weather and logistical complications.
Your Responsibilities
Personal sleeping, fishing and camp gear. A full gear list will be provided prior to the trip.
Help. Everyone contributes. We all participate in carrying, setup/breakdown, clean up and other tasks.
Snacks and camp treats. Bring your own special additions (but don’t bring too much).
Travel to and from Bethel.
Tips (usally $300-500 per person).
Stoke and positive attitude.
Cost
Outfitter and Fly-Out: ~$3,500 (actual amount is adjusted based on fuel costs, extra planes)
Lodging at Papa Bear: $155. Arrive in Bethel the night before the fly-out and stay at PB Lakeside Lodge. This is required to get on the river on the day of fly-out.
Food: ~$500 each. Winston coordinates all food and camp gear logistics. We will eat healthy, delicious meals on the river.
Total Estimated Per Person: $4,000 to $4,200
Cost does not include flights to Bethel, lodging at Papa Bear prior to fly-out,
